Menkaye Yeti came to our institution almost 2 years ago for more training. His grandfather died a few months ago and was one of the murderers of the 5 missionaries in 1956, who later met Christ in his life. In her Waorani nationality she was “the nurse” sutured and treated wounds, distributed medicines. But in a world of training more ordered by official schools she needed additional training. From his work in the hospital we decided to send him to a training course for nursing assistants, in which 6 indigenous people of different nationalities finished. We celebrated, Menkaye (in the black clothes) wanted to return to her village, but the leaders decided that she will be more useful for her people to stay with us in case of emergency of a Waorani – one more nationality in our international team.
